Week 26 Results, Playoffs and Tournament

What an exciting week of bowling!  First off, congratulations to Lickety Splits for winning the last trimester and to Bowl Movements for picking up the wildcard spot in the playoffs.  They will join Quick Release and 4 Pins 8 Balls in our playoffs this Tuesday to determine the league champion!  As a reminder, the playoffs are a total pinfall competition -- the team with the highest total of pins plus handicap for three games will be crowned our league champion.

Congratulations also to Kevin Collins for winning nearly $600 in the final strike jackpot of the year by making a perfect shot to pick off the 10-pin cleanly!  Tim Murphy won the last pizza award of the season with his career-high 207 game (+76), and Tim Yaeger tied for the high scratch game award with a nearly-perfect 289 game, and then fell only one pin short of the high scratch series for the season with a remarkable 777 (scratch) set.

As a reminder to those of you who did not qualify for the playoffs, we will also be running a side tournament for non-qualifiers called the Scotch Doubles Tournament!  In this format, players will pair up into two-person teams and play three games while alternating every other shot -- so, for example, if Player A throws a 7 on the first shot, Player B must pick up the spare for Player A, and then Player A throws the first ball again in the next frame.  If Player A gets a strike, Player B will throw the first ball in the next frame.  The handicap will be calculated as the average of the two players on the team, and the winners will be determined using the three-game total with their calculated handicap.  It's always a popular and enjoyable format, and the winning team will receive special trophies during the awards banquet!

Finally, mark the following Tuesday night (April 12th) on your calendars for the annual League Banquet, which will be held in the back room at Rain (the bar that shares the same building with Town Line Tenpin) -- cocktail hour will begin at 6:30pm, and dinner will be served starting around 7:30 with the awards ceremony to follow.  We are excited about our banquet menu, and we think it will be a great evening for everyone.

Good luck to our playoff teams, and we'll see everyone Tuesday night!
